REA and other AI reverse-engineering plugins
As of October 2026, REA 6.5.0 is one of several open-source projects that connect AI agents to reverse-engineering tools; others, such as GhidraMCP 2.0 and ida-pro-mcp 1.4.0, each target a single engine.
REA (morluto/rea) is a multi-target MCP server + CLI (binaries via Hopper/Ghidra/IDA, JS/Electron, Android/JADX, and more). Several other open-source projects also connect LLMs to reverse-engineering tools — usually inside one host (Ghidra, IDA, radare2, Binary Ninja, jadx).
This page maps what each project is, with licenses and repos verified 2026-10-17 (UTC). It is not a ranking and not a feature scorecard.

How to choose (practical, not ranked)
| If you already live in… | Look at |
|---|---|
| Multiple agents + mixed targets (JS, APK, native) | REA |
| Ghidra GUI / scripts only | GhidraMCP, ReVa, GhidrAssist |
| IDA Pro | ida-pro-mcp, Gepetto |
| radare2 CLI | r2ai |
| jadx GUI | jadx-ai-mcp |
| Binary Ninja | binary_ninja_mcp |
| Academic decompiler models | LLM4Decompile |
Commercial hosts (IDA, Binary Ninja, Hopper) still need legal licenses. REA's README states cracked copies and license bypass are not authorized.
Overlap without duplication
- REA can drive Ghidra/IDA/JADX; GhidraMCP / ida-pro-mcp / jadx-ai-mcp embed MCP inside those tools.
- You might run REA for agent-wide workflows and a host plugin for GUI-centric chats — that is composition, not a contest.
- RepoRead documents REA. Tool-vs-tool pricing and OSS directories belong on BinBench (githubrea.com), not here.

FAQ
Which is “best”?
Depends on the host tool you already use and whether you need multi-target MCP. Compare licenses and upstream docs for your case.
Does REA replace GhidraMCP?
No. Different packaging. REA orchestrates engines; GhidraMCP exposes Ghidra via MCP.
Are these affiliated with GitHub, Inc.?
No. They are independent open-source projects. RepoRead is also unofficial.
Can I use them to crack software?
No. Authorized research/education only.
